RRB Launches Redesigned myRRB

We are pleased to announce the redesign of myRRB, our collection of online services. These changes reflect our commitment to improve the user experience and make our online services more usable and intuitive while meeting user expectations.

Those familiar with our online services will notice a modern, streamlined design once they sign in to myRRB. Most notably, myRRB now boasts a traditional dropdown menu spanning the top of screen instead of the grid of tiles displaying each online service. Along with our updated look and feel, myRRB is better configured for mobile device compatibility, giving users the flexibility to use myRRB from a smartphone or tablet regardless of screen size. On a mobile device, the menu collapses to the side of the screen.

At sign in, users will also notice a new section showing recent account activity. This feature keeps users aware of their recent activity and prompts them to contact an RRB field office if they see activity they do not recognize, reinforcing our commitment to safeguard personal information.

These changes improve the layout, usability, and overall navigation while preserving the functionality that users rely on. Also, this transition to a new framework prepares myRRB for future upgrades and new service options.

Feeling a little lost? Get a closer look at our transformation in the overview shared below.

Getting to know the new myRRB

What’s the same?

  • LOGIN.GOV - retired, former, and current railroad employees sign in with Login.gov.
  • FUNCTIONALITY - all online services still available.

What’s different?

  • SIMPLIFIED NAVIGATION – streamlined main menu includes dropdown options for online services.
  • MOBILE DEVICE FLEXIBILITY – responsive layout enables display to automatically adjust for proper fit on smartphones and tablets; main menu collapses to the side on mobile devices.
  • MODERN DESIGN – implements U.S. Web Design System.
  • ACCESSIBLE – complies with various requirements for federal web-based services.

Featured in the new design of myRRB – fundamental tools are emphasized with high level visibility:

  • Recent account activity shown on the homepage
  • Quick links at the bottom of the homepage
  • Simplified footer with links back to RRB.gov website, including easy access to Field Office Locator and the toll-free phone number

Main Menu – spans across the top of myRRB after signing in, organized into categories for a simple path to each online service based on the user-type (either retired railroad employee or current/former railroad employee).

Like many agencies across the federal government, the RRB is currently working through an extensive Information Technology modernization initiative to bring numerous legacy systems into the 21st century and transform how the agency does business. The undertaking of this project demonstrates the RRB’s commitment to prioritize the user experience while adhering to federal mandates to employ design-driven approaches, standardize services, fulfill accessibility requirements, and help identify fraud to protect personal information.
